Josh Jacobs Shakes up Houston Commercial Real Estate Market with Launch of The Blue Ox Group

The industry veteran’s new venture aims to corner every high-profile city corner

Five months after ending a successful nine-year run building Edge Realty Partners’ Houston Office, Josh Jacobs announced today that he has launched commercial real estate brokerage, The Blue Ox Group (“TBOG”).

With over $1 Billion in asset sales and leases over a 25-year career, Jacobs’ client roster ranges from the largest US REITs to entrepreneurial market entrants. Offering advisory services from land acquisition/disposition, project leasing, investment sales, retail tenant representation and development, TBOG team members have been associated with the success of projects like Rice Village, Bellaire Town Center, and over 100 hard corner retail centers throughout Houston.

In addition to a laser focus on successful outcomes for clients and harnessing technological advancements in the sector, Josh’s vision for TBOG includes aspirational aspects. According to Jacobs, “The Blue Ox Group is an evolution of what doing business means to me. It’s about changing the way that our industry is viewed, not just in terms of honesty and integrity – sincerely caring for our clients – but also in terms of adding some positive energy, some zest and enjoyment into what we do. These factors played a significant role when I was compiling my team also.”

Few have had the impact on the Houston market that Jacobs has had, says Sunny Bathija, CEO of Satya, Inc., “The vigor of the Houston commercial real estate market relies on a few things: our indomitable come-back economy, the convergence of leading global entities, and industry leaders like Josh. No doubt that Blue Ox will set a new standard like other brokerage firms did under his leadership.”

Commenting on the current state of the city’s commercial real estate market, Josh is optimistic,“Houston’s market is not quite out of the woods, but it’s alive and kicking! 1031 exchanges,self-occupied properties, last mile delivery, and anything with a drive through have generated a lot of business and form part of a movement that is driven by new, creative retail thinking in a post-Covid environment.”

Going full steam out of their Rice Village offices, Josh and his team have closed 10 deals, have10 under contract, another 40 properties for sale or lease and several tenant representative assignments. But, when asked about the location of TBOG’s under-contract, permanent office location, Jacobs remains as secretive as only a seasoned commercial real estate veteran can be.
