Ethisphere Recognizes AVANGRID With Compliance Leader Verification™

Ethisphere, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, announced today that AVANGRID, Inc., has earned the coveted Compliance Leader Verification for 2021-2022, extending a previous 2019-2020 verification.
As one of the cleanest U.S. utilities and a leader in renewable energy, AVANGRID is at the forefront of the nation’s clean energy transformation. Guided by a sustainable business model and strategy that is centered around ESG+F goals, AVANGRID aspires to be the leading sustainable energy company in the U.S.
“Ethisphere’s Compliance Leader Verification validates our purpose-driven culture of accountability, grounded in the highest ethical standards, and mutual respect and trust,” said Dennis V. Arriola, CEO of AVANGRID. “Transparency and commitment to continuous improvement are the cornerstones of AVANGRID’s corporate governance system. This recognition is a testament to our dedicated employees who conduct themselves ethically and transparently, making a difference every day for our customers and the communities we serve.”
The Compliance Leader Verification process involves a rigorous review of an ethics and compliance program and corporate culture. It includes completing the Ethics Quotient® (EQ), a questionnaire covering the elements of an effective program; benchmarking program practices against the World’s Most Ethical Companies®; and extensive document review and interviews with executives and stakeholders. Additionally, AVANGRID chose to conduct an Ethical Culture survey to assess employee perceptions across eight pillars of an ethical culture.
“The review team continues to be impressed with the commitment by AVANGRID leadership to making business integrity a strategic priority,” said Jodie Fredericksen, JD, Senior Compliance Counsel of Ethisphere. “The company recognizes the value of ethics and compliance to all of its stakeholders and works with partners in human resources, communications, and other areas to extend the impact of its program.”
AVANGRID’s performance was evaluated in six key areas: program resources and structure; perceptions of ethical culture; written standards; training and communication; risk assessment, monitoring, and auditing; and enforcement, discipline, and incentives.
